about

Anna Tsvell (b. 1984) is a contemporary visual artist working through hand embroidery and fiber processes to explore the psychological and darker dimensions of nature, based in Da Nang, Vietnam.
Her practice is based on the unstable boundaries between growth and decay, beauty and disturbance, familiar and unknown, visible and invisible.
Working through an intuitive, process-based methodology, Tsvell develops each composition without predetermined imagery. Through the slow accumulation of thread, complex forms emerge that evoke fungal networks, cellular structures, root systems, geological formations, and speculative organisms. Existing between abstraction and representation, her works are related with the hidden forces that shape living systems and challenge conventional distinctions between natural and artificial, order and chaos.
Her work has been featured by Gucci, Dior, Tiffany & Co., Adidas Originals, Harper's Bazaar, SHOWstudio, Lampoon Magazine, Beautiful Bizarre Magazine, DressX, Winsor & Newton, and Art on a Postcard.Artist statement:Central to her practice is an interest in what she describes as The Monstrous Natural - those aspects of nature that resist categorization and exceed human attempts to impose meaning, control, or permanence. Rejecting romanticized notions of nature, the work examines the darker dimensions of living processes such as decay, mutation, parasitism, adaptation, and collapse. Through embroidery, a medium historically associated with care, labor, and domestic traditions, Tsvell creates intricate environments that reveal nature as a site of continual transformation, mutation, adaptation, and renewal.Solo exhibitions:● June 27 - July 27 2026 - "The Monstrous Natural", Pafos Underground Gallery, Pafos, Cyprus
